Industry: Residential and Commercial Cleaning
Size: Sole Proprietorship, Start-up
Business Challenge: In late 2009, our client inherited a small existing cleaning business from a friend who was no longer physically able to manage the work. The business had fewer than 10 clients and rates that were far below market standard. Rather than maintain the status quo, the client came up with the concept for Mosaic Cleaning and reached out to us to assist with defining and building her brand in an effort to attain a larger, more profitable client-base.
Illuminating the vision of…
Mosaic Cleaning
- LightSwitch assisted with the name choice for Mosaic Cleaning by confirming domain availability and researching prospect reactions to various options until one that was suitable was invented.
- Through careful questioning and a Balanced Scorecard approach, LightSwitch Creative worked with the client to identify target customers and set realistic and measurable financial, marketing, process and associate-related goals for the company’s first year of business.
- Working through those goals, LightSwitch generated several logo and style guide options, assisted the client in gathering feedback on them, and then developed various media (web banner, business cards, etc.) using the chosen design.
- Having never had an online presence before, LightSwitch set-up standard business social media accounts (twitter, TweetDeck, Facebook) on Mosaic Cleaning’s behalf and trained the client on their benefits and use.
- In addition to logo representation, LightSwitch Creative worked with Mosaic Cleaning to complete a fun, unique, approachable and personal cache of business photos for use in telling her story and building her credibility with prospects.
- It was determined that a blog-style web presence would be most practical for the client’s use in highlighting Mosaic Cleaning’s services, experiences, and expertise on a regular basis. LightSwitch created her web site using a theme that was in line with Mosaic Cleaning’s style guide, and trained the client on how to generate posts, add photographs, manage her public availability and review basic analytics for the site.
- As Mosaic’s Cleaning business has grown, LightSwitch Creative continues to assist with content development, niche marketing concepts and social media management as well as annual goal setting and problem resolution through our advisory board relationship status.

We’ve been meaning to attend this meetup for quite some time, but this was our first real opportunity to make it to one of their meetups so organizer Jayson Waits wasn’t really familiar with our LightSwitch Creative brand or our photography. Here’s what he had to say after we shared the images we captured:
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those photos are freaking awesome!!! Thank you so much for taking those last night!! You do amazing work!! –Jayson
Fiber artist Georgie Cline stopped by the studio for some professional headshots as well as some photographs of her art.

For a person who hates to have her picture taken, LightSwitch Creative provided a very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere, so the result great picture of myself. They also took pictures of my art work, the images are great. Thank you LightSwitch for a great time.
We were recently asked, “Do you do house photography?” by one of our regular GroovyDoodle family photo clients. Of course we do! Here are a few of our favorites of her lovely Columbus-area home, including one of the super cool man-cave. To see more, check out the full listing.

Update: Our client checked in on July 6th with an update on her listing. Her realtor is reporting a “big spike in showings this week”, just one week after we sent over the photos. Here’s what our client had to say…
… [W]e definitely increased viewings online, and we had our first showing since April…all because of the pictures.
We did another fun model shoot this weekend, this time for Chicks Are Hot Clothing’s web store. We took nearly 1,000 pics in 4 hours and are starting to sift through them for the cream of the crop. Here are just a few of our favorites so far…

Here’s what Tom from CRH Brands had to say after the shoot:
You guys were great to work with. Keep those pictures rolling in, we are all super excited to see them! Anticipation is killing us! (It’s not like you have a thousand pictures to go through or anything…)
We brought some of our favorite subjects in to do some product modeling of our friend Curt’s chainmaille jewelry. There were so many great pieces from C&T Designs to try on that everyone couldn’t help but have fun. Of the handful of images we pulled ahead to share with Curt right away, these were his favorites:

I knew we would get nothing less than spectacular photos and you delivered. We are already picking out items for the next shoot.
Thanks!

Mel and Adam are incredibly easy to work with. I’ve been on other photo shoots where the photographer is barking orders at you while framing the picture. Adam (who took my photos) was very easy-going. The best part was that Adam showed me the pictures after every shot right on his camera without me even asking! Sounds trivial, but ask that from other photographers and they’ll “No…You’ll see them when I’m done with them…” As a perfectionist, I find their approach very refreshing. They certainly take the pressure off of something as important as your own portrait.
Today, the folks from Yambeka Audio brought some of their brand new line of speakers over for us to shoot for their promotional material and website. This shoot was rather challenging with the variety of surfaces and the shiney exterior of some of the speakers. Regardless, we took almost 3 dozen photos for them, and they were absolutely thrilled. Here are a few of our favs…

We absolutely love the photographs and they enhanced the professional image of our company. Thanks so much!
